Here's the first image of 2021 apparition, not so lucky from my site. This was taken well before the opposition (Aug 02) and the planet barely reaches the 17".

This image is the closest to opposition I was able to get, and my best in this apparition.

Saturn in color and methane light (Aug 14, 2021)

I got advantage of the quite transparent atmosphere and of the IR sensitivity of IMX462 to image the ringed planet with methane filter also. Rings are bright as basically they do not contain methane. Note Enceladus, one of the brightest moons, visible in proximity of the planet.

Image shot a couple of weeks after opposition.

Seeliger effect (2021 apparition)

The animation shows the brightening of the rings of Saturn a few days around opposition. The effect, named after German astronomer Hugo von Seeliger, is well known among amateur visual observers and imagers. Note also the slight variation in the tilt of the rings during the 3 1/2 weeks that have passed between the images. Classical Cassegrain 12" f/20 has been used.
